Dear Customers, Suppliers, Colleagues, and Friends,
I will not add to all what has been written about 2020. I feel for all the families who has lost dear ones in the past year, it has been a sorry time for so many. We can within a day or two move into 2021 and look forward with a positive mind to a brand new year.
It was good to see that the EU and UK finally agreed the divorce. When details appear we hope that it will be constructive for business export & import alike and a win/win from both sides. There is going to be a lot of changes in the UK; we have in all our businesses been planning for the changes for months and months we will now be taken to task. I have always believed that change equals opportunities and we are certainly ready for the rollercoaster ride year of 2021.
When I write this letter every year at this time it is interesting to reflect on the passing year this year I feel very proud and thankful to our partners, directors and employees. We have had to make so many changes and adjustments, the number of Zoom, Google, Teams meetings has just been crazy but we have done well in trying and difficult times by working close together as a team. We managed to start a new business in 2020. Essex Cement Limited saw the start in May. ECL is based at the Port of Brightlingsea and is supplying the south of England with the finest bulk cement which we import through the port. Additionally we have stepped up our port and stevedoring activities in PoB.
Our Charity for the coming year is again The Daisy Appeal, which through its PET-CT scanning centre is making big inroads into the accurate detection of the three biggest killer diseases; such a good cause.
Jacob Herskind has again for painted our 2021 motive which serves as calendar and roundabout advertising.
May I on behalf of my colleagues and myself thank you all for your valued support during the past year. We are all looking forward to new and existing opportunities and developments for mutual benefit. Looking forward to meeting up again once we have got that important vaccination.
Wishing you all a healthy New Year 2021.
